Former United states Representative
Dan Kildee
Born and raised on New York Avenue Dan was within a short jog of the massive Buick plant, immersed in a neighborhood considered among the toughest on the Eastside.

His family relocated to the Civic Park area, and Dan graduated from Flint Northern. However, he carried his East Side toughness with him into a rough game that demanded it - politics.

He was elected to Congress in 2013, serving Michigan’s 8th congressional district.  Kildee advocated on issues such as middle-class economic growth, healthcare reform, and environmental protections. He has also played a significant role in promoting the revitalization of American manufacturing.
He has held numerous political roles and has been the Chief Deputy Whip of the US Senate.

Recently retired,
Dan is back in Flint working with the Community Foundation.

Judge Duncan Beagle
Judge Duncan M. Beagle has served as a Genesee County Circuit Court judge since 1991. A Flint native, he earned his law degree from the University of Detroit Law School and began his legal career as an assistant prosecutor and in private practice . In 1991, he was appointed to the bench by Governor John Engler.

Beagle is known for his compassionate approach to family law, overseeing cases involving divorce, custody, and juvenile neglect. He has pioneered several specialty courts in Genesee County, including Drug Court for neglectful parents, Attendance Court for chronically truant students, and ADAPT Court to streamline paternity cases.
Beyond the courtroom, Beagle has been a dedicated community leader, serving on numerous nonprofit boards and contributing to the preservation of local landmarks like Atwood Stadium . He retired in 2022 after more than three decades of service.

Pete "Fat Cat" Flanders
Growing up on Indiana Avenue on Flint’s East Side, Pete Flanders couldn’t have known that he would one day be a key associate of the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. He couldn’t possibly have known he would be on the vanguard of Rock and Roll, Pop, and R & B music. He couldn’t have known that he would enter his name on to the Mt. Rushmore of Flint radio. But he did all of that.

Pete’s time in radio included time at urban format WAMM in Flint, and an epic stint with WTAC when they were on the vanguard of the greatest rock and pop stations in the entire country. His personal work included time spent with Jackie Wilson, The Temptations, The MC5, and Flint’s own Rock and Roll Hall of Famer radio Kingpin of WTAC and WWCK Peter C. Cavanaugh.

A longtime Flint businessman, Pete has owned Musical Memories on Dort Highway for years.

Wild Bob Burman - In memoriam
Wild Bob Burman was a pioneering American race car driver known for his daring spirit and incredible speed in the early 1900s. Born in 1884, he became a prominent member of the Buick Racing Team, a factory-supported group that helped establish Buick as a competitive force in early motorsports. Operating out of Flint, Michigan—Buick’s hometown—Burman and the team competed in grueling cross-country races and early speed trials, showcasing the reliability and power of Buick’s vehicles. Burman earned a reputation for fearlessness, often pushing cars to their limits on dirt tracks and wooden board speedways. In 1911, he set a land speed record at Daytona Beach, driving a modified Blitzen Benz to over 141 mph, though by then he was racing independently. Still, his roots with Buick and Flint’s vibrant automotive scene marked a pivotal era in American racing. Tragically, Burman died in a crash in 1916, but his legacy lives on.
