We are extremely proud to be able to offer you this unique opportunity.  Senior Architectural Historian/Project Manager for Commonwealth, Elaine H. Robinson, will be providing her valuable expertise and knowledge for this advanced preservation workshop.

Ms. Robinson serves as one of Commonwealth’s senior architectural historians/project managers. She has been employed by Commonwealth since 1994. Ms. Robinson earned a B.F.A., with distinction, in Interior Architecture from Wayne State University and an M.S. in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University. In her more than 25 years with Commonwealth, she has been the lead on a number of projects across the country, including projects in Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The projects have been undertaken for a large variety of clients, including private individuals; local, state, and national governmental entities; and corporations and required survey of buildings, sites, objects, and districts. Ms. Robinson has experience recording sites associated with Mid-Century Modern style; African American communities; large urban areas; small city downtowns; farms; engineering structures including bridges, caves, and dams; and linear projects associated with the construction or development of roadways and pipelines. In addition to the recordation and evaluation of historic properties, Ms. Robinson has participated in meetings with community members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies including the Department of Transportation, and State Historic Preservation Offices. She has also prepared brochures for public distribution, created the text for a Memorandum of Agreement required video, and written the text for historic markers.

She played a key role in the recent survey of Flint’s Mid-Century Architecture, that culminated in listing the Flint City Hall complex on the National Register of Historic Places.
